Hradec Kralove
The city of Hradec Kralove, with 100.000 inhabitants, is situated in an exquisite location at the junction of the rivers “Elbe” and “Orlice”, 100 kms east of Prague.
There is a rail connection between Prague and Hradec Kralove, with daily scheduled connections. Transportation is also possible by bus. Both means of transportation take around 1,5 hour to reach their destination. The distances in the centre of the town can be covered either by tram or by bus.
Hradec Kralove hosts many annual festivals, with most notable the Jazz Festival and the International Theatre Festival. The streets and parks where the concerts are held are filled with people and the whole city acquires a unique, vibrant atmosphere.
STUDENTS’ COST OF LIVING IN HRADEC KRALOVE
A sum of around €300/ month (approx. 8.000 CZK) can cover the following basic expenses:
- Meals:The University has a restaurant where students can enjoy a full meal at a cost of €2-€5.
- Transportation:The student’s pass for the public means of transport starts from 210CZK/ month, or € 8,5.
Accommodation: Accommodation costs depend on the size and the location of the apartment. The apartments that are closer to the University premises are more expensive. The monthly rent for a studio in Hradec Kralove is around €350- €500. For a 2-room apartment, with a bedroom, a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom, the monthly rent is between €400- €650. The rate includes heating, water, electricity bills. Some apartments can be fully or partly furnished. The rate doesn’t include internet fees. In the town of Hradec Kralove there are students’ hostels which are not recommended by our agency.
