Brno, the second most populated city in the Czech Republic, has 400.000 inhabitants. It lies 250 kms from Prague and access is possible either by rail or by bus, on a trip that takes around 3,5 hours. Brno is accessible by air. The flight leaves from Greece to Vienna and thereafter one can continue to Brno either by train (2,5 hours trip) or by bus (2 hours). For their transportation in the city commuters use the bus and the tram.

Brno is a vibrant city. It hosts around 30.000 students who can enjoy ample activities during their free time, such as theatre, cinema, parks, musical events, athletic venues, shopping malls, bars and clubs. Some of the largest and most significant festivals of the country are organized in the parks, the squares and the streets of Brno.

STUDENTS’ COST OF LIVING IN BRNO

A sum of around €300/ month (approx. 8.500 CZK) can cover the following basic expenses:

Meals: The University has a restaurant where students can enjoy a full meal at a cost of €2-€5.
Transportation The student’s pass for the public means of transport costs €26 for 3 month.
Accommodation. Accommodation costs depend on the size and the location of the house. The apartments that are closer to the University premises are more expensive. The monthly rent for a studio in Brno is around €320- €450. For a 2-room apartment, with a bedroom, a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom, the monthly rent is between €370- €500. The rate includes heating, water, electricity bills. Some apartments can be fully or partly furnished. The rate doesn’t include internet fees. In the town of Brno there are students’ hostels which are of poor quality and are not recommended by our agency.

A major factor that determines the basic expenses are the students themselves.
